What kind of car can I use?

Any 1000cc, non-turbo, 2 wheel drive car can be used in the Championship. Popular choices are:

• Citroen C1
• Nissan Micra
• Peugeot 107
• Skoda Citigo
• Suzuki Alto
• Toyota Aygo
• Toyota Yaris
• Volkswagen Up!

The Ford Fiesta and Toyota IQ have also been used.

The Championship Regulations contain the detailed technical specifications but essentially you will drive a standard 1000cc saloon car which is fitted with mandatory safety equipment such as full roll cage, bucket seats, 6-point full harness belts, fire extinguishers, etc. Tuning of the engine is not allowed and gearboxes must remain as standard. Tyres are controlled and can only be bought from the Championship’s appointed supplier.

Some competitors choose to build their own car. We have written a build guide to help you understand the work involved – you can download it here. Others opt to hire one. However, buying a ready prepared car can be the quickest and most cost effective way of getting started.
